NAFA Educational Sessions
(will be presented in both English and Spanish)

The Hidden Cost of Poor Filtration: Labor, Energy, and Indoor Air Quality
Date | Time: Tuesday, January 26, 2027 | 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM CST
Location: S404a - Seminar rooms will be located on Level 4 + 5, South Building

Poor filtration decisions can cost a building far more than the price of the filter. Filter selection and maintenance practices directly affect labor requirements, energy use, equipment performance, and indoor air quality.

This session takes a practical look at the true cost of air filtration and the factors that drive it. Attendees will explore how filter efficiency, pressure drop, service life, maintenance practices, and system conditions work together—and how seemingly small filtration decisions can create significant downstream costs.

Key Takeaways
Attendees will learn how to:

  • Look beyond initial filter price to understand the total cost of filtration
  • Evaluate how pressure drop and filter selection affect HVAC energy use
  • Identify opportunities to reduce labor and maintenance costs through better filtration practices
  • Understand the relationship between filtration, system performance, and indoor air quality.
  • Make more informed filtration decisions that balance cost, efficiency, maintenance, and IAQ goals.

Speaker: Hunter Most, CAFS, AAF Flanders, Application Engineer, NAFA Board of Directors

El costo oculto de una filtración deficiente
Date | Time: Tuesday, January 26, 2027 | 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Location: S404a - Seminar rooms will be located on Level 4 + 5, South Building
